Pucas Adventures

HP- Puzzling Adventures

So many crazy days since the last post.  We managed to finish a very cool puzzle in the in between times of figuring more out about this different and unique place we live.

Part of the uniqueness of our home is the individual specialty shops.  Caleb and I found the cheese shop and sampled quite a few before taking home the owner's favorite which we are now quite addicted to.

While exploring in The Hague, we came upon this unique little contraption whereby one may relieve oneself in the middle of the square and in front of any and everyone.  Quite different.....

Many of the restaurants have cozy little outdoor seating areas with fires and heaters running in the evening.  Such an inviting atmosphere to enjoy conversation and delicious food!

The climbing wall was put into even more use after friends joined us for a picnic of Thai food made by our neighbor on the street behind us.  Pretty awesome way to spend an evening!

While crummy can openers are NOT unique to the Netherlands, this one happens to be the one our rental company gave to us.  After literally visiting 7 stores to find the ingredients to make home made salsa for my Caleb boy, I couldn't get the stinkin' can opener to do it's job.  Talk about frustrating.  But, I was not to be defeated.  Using knives, spoons, and this crummy little opener combined with about 30 minutes of patience and 20 minutes of maneuvering, salsa happened!

These unique little cuties just opened up this week to bring a little color to our sidewalk.

Unique to our staircase, I bring you the Puca slide model 2000.  These fabulous rental mattresses have morphed into a slide any Mama would be proud to slide down.  Yes, I let the boys use it too....some :)  And, it's currently the only passageway to get up to the laundry room on the 3rd floor.

Oh the sugar bins.....this adorable little candy store is 50% sugar and 50% Delft pottery.  Quite unique and different!

The toy store in our village has this fun crawl through tunnel which Caleb thought would make little Joshua laugh if he climbed inside.  It worked....tons of giggles.

I have seen only one pick up truck since we arrived.  So, we are utilizing our rental van to the fullest.  Check out our new wardrobe....barely fit in here with the back tied down.

Speaking of vehicles on the road.  This was my most recent road hazard.  We have gotten comfortable with dodging pedestrians, cyclists, other drivers and roundabout traffic.  But trolleys are a whole different ball game.  These guys share the road and always have the right of way!  Hang onto your seat belt!!

Dutch chickens must be very happy....we bought and enjoyed double yoke eggs this week.....

Joshua was thrilled with his choice of the triple steak platter at our local Brazilian restaurant.  Three steaks last night, first international three pointer in the game the next day......hmmm.... a pattern here?

He played a great game and really enjoys the boys on his new team Cobra Nova!

Caleb had a great second game with his team too!

Last but not least difference of the week. Caleb noticed that there wasn't a bag of fries with his KFC order.  Instead.....they put the fries in the box with the chicken.  Hmmmm, very resourceful and environmentally friendly :)
