A few weeks ago our family went to Italy with our cousins. The pizza was super lekker (that's Dutch for tasty) and everybody had so much fun. My favorite part about Italy was the Colosseum, and it was so gigantic that Jupiter would fit in its fingernail! Sadly it went by too quickly.
The temperature was scorching "Houston" hot every single day, so we had to wear shorts and carry around lots and lots of water. The one day we couldn't wear shorts was when we visited St. Peter's Basilica in The Vatican. Vatican City is its own country and has the largest Catholic Church in the world. They show on the floor how the other churches measure in length.
If you ever have a chance to come to Europe make sure you go to Italy!
St Peter's
This is the first mummy I have ever seen.....I think he is around 300 years dead.
Mom and me by the Ponte Vecchio bridge. I had just watched some street vendors get chased away by the police. They walked away with their purses wrapped up in a sheet, and when the police left, they came right back and started selling again.
The Florence Duomo. I remember that it is the 4th largest in the world.
We climbed 414 steps to the top of the Duomo bell tower and had a really cool view of the Dome.
Here is the incredible Colosseum I mentioned.
See how it compares to Jupiter....it even looks like it!
Joshua and I had a ton of fun launching these lit up rockets in the square.
They flew as high as all the buildings.
Siena Duomo.....looks like a zebra inside!
Daddy is a goof ball. He's going to get me for posting this.....
They say it is the world's best gelato.
I say it is the world's second best after Luciano's back in Wassenaar.
I liked the Sistine Chapel because it had air conditioning.

These are most wonderful and special postings and pictures. The verbiage will be treasured for many years, and on looking back, the kids will remember more memories and incidents from their own words than from anything anyone else said to them. The perspective of youth is so refreshing. Remembering the Sistine chapel for the air conditioning is classic. What a joy to watch you learn and grow. Thanks for sharing and eat an extra gelato for us Texans. It is really really hot here now.
