2010 Spring Garden

The fun began March 27th, when Caleb's idea to plant a garden came to life! We dreamed and schemed and plotted and planted. Our journey so far.....

We started seeds in a couple of tubs a few weeks before the last freeze, and they took off pretty quickly. It took us a few weeks to figure out where and what we wanted to build for the garden itself. We went with a raised bed for many reasons.

Transplanting day.

Week 1

The Peach tree!

Lemons....

And....oranges

Caleb is a frog fanatic, so Joshua had fun giving him this stone friend to "guard" the garden.

Week 2 (also added blackberry bushes along fence in back)

Week 3

And, maybe a peach this season!

Week 4

Tomatoes!!! Papa would be so proud. I've been trying to grow these crazy things for 7 years now. This is the first year that our beautiful plants with gorgeous flowers have actually born fruit. We hope to get to enjoy them before the squirrels do!

Broccoli, our first major harvest.

Caleb taking pictures of the broccoli.

Caleb cutting the broccoli,

spraying Aminos on the broccoli,

and scarfing the broccoli :-)

Peach is getting bigger...

End of week 4 - 68 tomatoes and counting...

First flowers on our pepper plant.

Daddy wanted a strawberry patch too, so we planted those along with some raspberries in the back.
